Plan ahead: Incline to close for upcoming events

MANITOU SPRINGS — Upcoming events will impact any plans to hike the Manitou Incline as the popular trail will be temporarily closing on certain dates in both July and August.

The first closure will take place Sunday, July 28th from 6:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. for the Barr Trail Mountain Race. The race takes runners on a 12.6 mile course that begins at the Cog Railway Station in Manitou up Barr Trail to Barr Camp and back down.

According to race organizers there will be security posted at the bottom of the Incline trail to ensure there is no trespassing for the safety of race participants.

The next closure will take place the weekend of August 24th & 25th from 6:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. for the annual Pikes Peak Marathon & Ascent.
