PUEBLO — It's adoption time again in Pueblo. The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region has opened up pet adoptions this week.

HSPPR was doing limited services at the Pueblo Animal Shelter over the past couple of months since taking over for Paws for Life after the state opened an investigation into Paws.

"It is honestly incredibly exciting," said Kait Aviv from Pueblo Animal Services. "We are really dedicated to the Pueblo community and the animals we are so excited to be able to reach the pueblo community with the animals here instead of having all the people who in want of an animal happen to drive up to the Springs."

The shelter is scheduled to have a grand reopening on August 17.
