PENROSE — Postmaster Sue Luck recently put an assortment of seeds and uplifting letters in every Penrose resident's mail box.

She said she got the idea when her pastor asked everyone to send 12 letters to their neighbors.

"It uplifts the community a little bit knowing that somebody cares and shows some appreciation. Somehow or another with all this going on and all the bad news it just uplifts everybody," resident Walter Kosik said.

In total, $500 worth of seeds were passed out to about 2,000 residents.
