COLORADO SPRINGS — Parkview Medical Center is bringing awareness to heart disease during Febuary -- American Heart Month.

Hospital workers wore red to show their recognition of heart disease.

Though COVID-19 has been the main focus over the last year, experts say heart disease is still one of the leading killers among people in the U.S.

"Self-care accounts for about 70-percent of all healthcare outcomes, {including} your ability to live a healthy lifestyle, to exercise regularly, and to put some sort of stress on your body through exercise," said Dr. Lawrence Berarducci, Senior Cardiologist at Parkview Medical Center.

The CDC advises that in order to keep a healthy heart, one should eat healthier, drink a lot of water, along with maintaining a healthy weight and not smoking.
