PUEBLO — Parkview Medical Center has expanded an important piece of the hospital.

Parkview has added 13,000 square feet to its Emergency Area.

The $7 million project includes more trauma rooms and flex space to handle surges.

"The whole goal of this was to increase patient efficiency and to meet the cares of the community," explained Rachael Morris from Parkview Medical Center. "We been seeing a need for more space in our emergency department so we have added this space and we made it more conducive for patient care."

The new helipad is planned to be done by next month, which will make it quicker for emergency crews to move a patient from the helicopter to the ER.
