PUEBLO — With seniors staying close to home due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family of one Pueblo woman found a way to bring a little cheer to celebrate her 85th birthday.

Vivian Secora would ordinarily celebrate with family and friends at a big party in Gunnison, but with the area still under a lockdown that couldn't happen.

So members of her family decided to do what many folks have been doing to show support for their loved ones while maintaining social distance: a drive-by celebration.

Friends and family drove by and honked their horns in celebration.

"I feel that I am the luckiest, most wealthiest person there is to have a family that thinks this much of me at my age," Secora said.

Her family said in times like this it's important to have a close family.

"This is gonna get back to better. It's not going to get back to normal, it's going to get back to better, and I believe it's going to teach all of us how strong we can all be for our families," said P.J. Secora, Vivian's niece.

Her family also dropped off a few gifts to help her celebrate turning 85.
