Drivers will see crews working along southbound I-25 starting Tuesday near the South Academy Boulevard exit.
The work is being done between mileposts 134 and 135 and will be done to conduct initial bridge replacement surveys.
The Colorado Department of Transportation will be replacing two bridges across South Academy Blvd.
The project will also widen a section of South Academy Boulevard to three lanes to alleviate recurring congestion.
CDOT will also stall median barriers on a stretch of I-25 between the exits at South Academy Boulevard and Santa Fe Avenue, as well as work on six other bridges and installing infrastructure to support transportation technologies.
Starting Tuesday from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m., northbound and southbound right lanes will be closed on I-25. The speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph.
Once that work is done, the left lanes in both directions will be closed.
According to CDOT, there will also be shoulder closures on South Academy Boulevard from 7 a.m. on January 9 until 3 p.m. January 10.
