COLORADO SPRINGS — Hundreds of local military families are getting their Thanksgiving meal taken care of thanks to a group called "Operation Homefront."
The group's mission is to help military families out, as many of them are stationed far away from home and the bags of food can alleviate the stress of the holidays.
"This time of the year can be stressful, the budget can be stretched very thin and providing them a turkey and some sides helps to relieve a lot of the budget on the food and then they can enjoy their holiday season," said Program Manager, Kathleen Coleman.
Locally, the group is helping 300 families. Around the nation, more than 10,000 military families will be getting Thanksgiving meals through the program.
