COLORADO SPRINGS — One person suffered life threatening injuries after a hit and run early Saturday morning.

Colorado Springs police were called to the intersection of Academy and Carefree around midnight. When they arrived on scene, police said they found the pedestrian suffered serious, life threatening injuries. He was immediately taken to the hospital.

According to police, the pedestrian was attempting to cross Academy Blvd eastbound at Carefree Circle when the pedestrian was struck by a southbound vehicle that was traveling at a high rate of speed. Police said the suspect left the scene.

Police describe the suspect vehicle as a mid-sized, late model, dark colored Ford Sedan. The vehicle should have front end damage.
