COLORADO SPRINGS — Folks were revved up to support first responders in the Pikes Peak region Wednesday.

The non-profit "Status Code 4" partnered with Overdrive Raceway and other local businesses Wednesday night to host the second annual "First Responders Family Fun Night."

Hundreds of people came out for a few hours of food, fellowship, and go-kart racing at Overdrive Raceway in north Colorado Springs. Some many folks showed up that lines were reaching around the building.

News 5 spoke with the owner of Overdrive about why this is an important event for him and his staff.

"They protect us, they save us, they help us, and to give back to first responders or our military, is just something that we should be doing," said Jim Mundle.

The event Wednesday night included first responders from agencies across the region, including law enforcement, fire and EMTs.
