COLORADO SPRINGS — A local nonprofit organization hosted its first food giveaway on Thursday in downtown Colorado Springs.
No Cap Inc. was started by Jazzmyn Williams and was created to provide resources to the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Thursday's event gave out food bags to 100 people in need in the community. Each bag was filled wtih food and some personal protective equipment.
The group was set up on Nevada Ave. across from Acacia Park from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. They handed out 80 of the bags in 30 minutes.
Organizers say they want to be able to help out anybody in need, no matter what their background may be.
"Today's goal was to try to feed 100 individuals so we could try to take the pressure, like she said, off of our communities and programs. And, we just hope that 100 people today could get inspired to go into the new year with some kind of hope."
Organizers say they are already working on another food giveaway that will take place in March or close to Easter.
