COLORADO SPRINGS — Seventh and eighth-grade students have arrived at the new Chinook Trail Middle School in District 20 for the first time.
They're joining sixth-graders, who had their first up-close look at the brand-new space yesterday.
More than 300 students helped design the school, which includes a state-of-the-art library named the "Curiosity Center."
"It's better than I expected because there is just more open space to it," said 12-year-old Sam Cloninger.
"I really like how the school turned out and I like how it's super colorful, because most school's colors are like brown and black and stuff like that," added 11-year-old Sofie Ruskin.
"It's unique."
The new building will house about 1,080 students total.
The building cost $42,440,320, and it's a total of 137,069 square feet.
