CASTLE ROCK — The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) said both northbound lanes of I-25 are back open following a one-lane closure due to construction in the gap Monday morning.

Crews were finally able to shift traffic more than two hours later than scheduled due to an equipment problem experienced by workers. All lanes offically reopened around 7:50 a.m., they were supposed to reopen at 5 a.m.

Significant delays of up to 30 minutes were reported while the interstate was down to one lane. The delay was part of a brand new traffic alignment on the I-25 gap project, pushing northbound traffic toward the median of the interstate so that crews can begin work on the shoulders.
