MANITOU SPRINGS — On Monday, the famous Manitou Incline is still closed due to COVID-19.

Manitou Springs officials say since the Incline is very narrow, the ability of hikers to social distance while climbing is limited.

Currently, due to people trying to defy the closure, the Manitou Springs Police Department has a deployed officer during the day to keep everyone off the trail.

"I think the better solution is: Let's try to live and let live," explained Manitou Springs Mayor John Graham. "Let's try to get along, and the intent is to get through this together and at some point in the future get back to some normalcy and have access to the trail. I think it will have to be in a managed way."

The Incline will remain closed to - at least - June 2nd.
