LOVELAND — A fire at an arts gallery in west Loveland left one person dead and another injured, according to a Colorado fire official.

The fire at the Loveland Fine Arts Gallery was reported at 1:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Loveland fire division Chief Greg Ward told the Loveland Herald-Reporter.

When firefighters arrived there was fire coming out of two windows and smoke pouring out of the rest of the building, Ward said. At 2:01 a.m., a woman walked around from the other side of the property and said she thought there was another person still inside the building, he said.

Minutes later, firefighters located a man on the second floor. He was taken by ambulance to Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, where he was pronounced dead. His identity has not been released.

The woman was taken by ambulance to McKee Medical Center, and the fire was under control by 2:18 a.m., Ward said.

It is unclear whether the two people were employees of the gallery, Ward said, and it is unknown why they were in the building at that time.

The fire department and the Loveland Police Department are investigating the cause of the fire, Ward said.
