PUEBLO — The Pueblo Police Department found a dead man early Friday morning near a railroad crossing in Pueblo after a train crew reported him being struck by a train.

Authorities said the train crew saw the man sitting next to the tracks, holding a potted plant and rocking back and forth.

Police said officers responded to the report in the area of W. 29th St. and Lowell Avenue around 2:35 a.m., but they did not find anything. PPD said they later learned it was at a railroad crossing on E. 29th St. near the Pueblo Mall.

At the railroad crossing near the mall, PPD arrived with the Pueblo Fire Department and said they found the man dead.

Police said the train could not stop and that the man did not respond to the horn.

PPD said the investigation is ongoing
