FOUNTAIN — The Fountain Police Department says a man has been arrested for murder after a woman was found dead on Aug. 8.
Officers were called to Patchwork Ct. before 11 a.m. Thursday after a woman was found not breathing.
When they arrived officers found a deceased woman with significant injuries.
The following day the El Paso County Coroner's Office confirmed the death was a homicide.
Police arrested Donnell Desmond Bradley, 31, that evening.
He's charged with murder.
The victim's name has not yet been released.
News 5 spoke with one neighbor who said she saw the woman the day she was found dead. Kelsie Vikre said there are two women associated with the house where the homicide investigation is happening. One she described as a grandmother, and the other as a mother. Vikre said she has seen the grandmother since Thursday, but has not seen the mother, which is who she saw that morning. "The first day of school, it's the typical morning, we're all running late, we're all frantic, you know and everything, but there was no sign of her looking stressed or like something dangerous was going on or something," said Vikre.
She said once police were at the house, she saw the man police arrested as a suspect in the case. Vikre said she had never seen him before Thursday. "He was just sitting there, you know, he kind of had his hands in his arms like this, and he was just mumbling a lot of words," said Vikre.
This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the El Paso County Sheriff's Office at (719)390-5555 or Crime Stoppers at (719)634-STOP (7867).
