COLORADO SPRINGS — El Paso County Sheriffs arrested a man after a high-speed chase down Highway 24 on Thursday evening.
According to a release, suspect Anthony Espinoza was driving a white sports-utility vehicle into oncoming traffic at approximately 6 p.m. when police began pursuit. Authorities say he continually crossed lanes of opposing traffic at high speeds, causing extreme danger to the public. Colorado State Patrol was requested for backup.
CSP set up stop sticks as other deputies blocked the road to get Espinoza off the highway while incurring the least amount of damage and collisions. As Espinoza drove towards a CSP trooper setting up stop sticks, a sergeant used his vehicle to block the trooper from being hit. The sergeant successfully stopped Espinoza's vehicle.
Espinoza was arrested and booked into El Paso County Jail, with charges including:
- Attempted First Degree Murder of a Peace Officer,
