PUEBLO — The Pueblo Memorial Airport is about to get a major upgrade.

The airport received more than $3 million from the FAA.

The money will go toward building a perimeter fence that will keep animals and people off the runway.

"I am proud to show that we are showing the need for something like that. It is something good for local economy contractors, drivers, construction workers. It is something very exciting," said Greg Pedroza, Airport Operations/Maintenance Supervisor.

The airport hopes to have boots on the ground for the project by next month.
