PUEBLO — Major crimes are down in Pueblo.

The Pueblo Police Department has released its numbers through December 30th and the data shows major crimes are down 16 percent compared to 2018.

Assaults, robbery, burglary, thefts, and arson are all down. The only crime that went up was homicide. There were 13 homicides in 2019, compared to nine in 2018.

"I cherish the relationships we have been able to garner with our community. We will press forward and enhance on those relationships and I'm going to predict further success for the City of Pueblo," said Polie Chief, Troy Davenport.

The Chief said he feels more officers, an improving economy, proactive citizens, and a better relationship with the community have led to the drop in major crime numbers.
