COLORADO SPRINGS — Churches, non-profits, and businesses are teaming up to provide free school supplies for families this fall.
The distribution event called the "Backpack Bash" will be spread out across five locations in Colorado Springs.
The non-profit COSILOVEYOU is working with other organizations and businesses around town to collect school supplies for families who may struggle to get them on their own. Donations like backpacks, highlighters, spiral notebooks, colored pencils, and mechanical pencils are needed.
"This might be the most challenging start to a school year that families are having because around our community, just because of coronavirus, the way schools are dealing with things, so essentially for us to be able to provide a backpack full of school supplies that supplements what a lot of our school districts are providing on their own," COSILOVEYOU CEO Stu Davis said.
