PUEBLO — Around 400 Southern Colorado veterans in need received a helping hand Saturday.

Xcel Energy teamed up with several other local organizations to provide food and supplies to vets and their families at the Southern Colorado Veterans Food Drop.

The event was held at CSU Pueblo.

Organizers said it's humbling to help those who have given so much.

"They sacrifice so much when they're called to service, and their families sacrifice as well. So being able to give back to them is a small thing we can do," said Ashley Valdez with Xcel Energy.

The evenet was a partnership between the Coalition to salute America's Heroes, the Center for American Values, Feed the Children, and Care and Share.
