COLORADO SPRINGS — The non-profit, Crossfire Ministries, is handing out 1,200 Thanksgiving meal baskets to families in need in El Paso County.

Ten groups of volunteers were out Monday and will be out again Tuesday helping load meal boxes onto cars. The organization said they're loading 10 cars every five minutes.

"It is a lot of effort, a lot of volunteers. Crossfire is run by volunteers. But it's such a reward to see these people and see the smiles on their faces and the "Thank You's" and how much they appreciate what we're doing here," said volunteer, Lin Chayre.

Last week News 5 told you Crossfire was in desperate need of butter. Well, thanks to our wonderful viewers, we're happy to say that need was met.

After 2 p.m. Tuesday, volunteers said they will be handing out any baskets that are left over to families who drop by.
