COLORADO SPRINGS — At the Sun Plaza Lot in Colorado Springs, a group of demonstrators decided to go 'cruisin' with pride instead of marching. A local Colorado Springs resident came up with the idea, after so many other Pride events and festivals were canceled or held online.

"I was trying to find a way to be out and pride around the city, and at the same time be safe with the Coronavirus going around," said Ash Stephens, the organizer of the event.

Before the trip, the drivers had to get their cars ready. Each vehicle is painted with signs and sayings about love and acceptance, empowering the LGBTQ community, with Pride flags waving.

Stephens picked out eight different routes to drive around the Springs. LGBTQ friendly organizations and supporters were there, just for the chance to deck out their cars in gear, and to drive proudly around town.

"I just wanted to say Happy Pride, because this is a time of celebration. We can be out and proud, especially in a part of the community that may not accept us yet," Stephens said.
