PUEBLO — A touching picture of a dog thanking a Pueblo firefighter for saving her life is getting national attention.

Last October we first showed you a picture of a dog licking fire engineer Phil Chapin after a fire.

The website FireRescue1 has ranked that picture number 1 in its 19 Animal Rescues of 2019.

Pueblo firefighters said they appreciate the attention.

"It was incredible to see that on a national publication to see and get that recognition," said Fire Chief Steve Cervi.

Chapin said the dog visited the firefighters not long after the rescue for a more fun visit.

The firefighters say they used special pet rescue equipment donated vy the Southern Colorado Kennel Club to save the dog.
