COLORADO SPRINGS — Breweries across the world are now joining in the fight for police brutality reform and equality for people of color, and they're doing it by brewing a pastry stout called "Black is Beautiful."

Metric Brewing and Cerberus Brewing in Colorado Springs are two businesses involved in this initiative.

"This was just a really easy opportunity to bring awareness and why not use beer as a topic starter?" said Chase Perry. He's a brewer and co-owner at Metric. He and his brother, Taproom Manager/Co-Owner Morgan Perry, will soon have the "Black is Beautiful" beer on tap.

Morgan said, "It's a dark chocolate stout."

It's a drink that they hope makes a big impact and will "challenge the entire community and bring awareness to equality and just social justice," said Morgan.

Chase shared that the idea came from "Weathered Souls in San Antonio, Texas. They started the initiative, blasted it all over social media, reached out to the world to participate in this worldwide collaboration...it's a big 8%, beautiful stout. We're doing a little take on it. We're adding a little taste of coconut and some vanilla."

Metric will be serving up the beer on July 8 and it will be available for about three weeks.

Chase said, "A dollar from every pint sold will be put into charity."

Morgan said, "The three that we've kind of centered on - the Citizens Project within Colorado Springs, Colorado Criminal Justice Reform, and the ACLU of Colorado."

They're groups that are essential to strengthen and protect equality.

Chase said, "We want change to happen. We want it to happen effectively. We want it to happen in a peaceful way."

Morgan said, "We feel it's the right thing to do at this time."

Chase said, "I'm proud to be part of it. I think it's awesome."
