COLORADO SPRINGS — If you’re exceptionally lucky you don't know anyone who’s ever been affected by cancer, but chances are you do know somebody or you are somebody whose life has been impacted by cancer - in some way.

It’s estimated that over 600,000 people will die of cancer in the United States this year alone. It kind of puts things into perspective when you think of how much attention COVID-19 is getting because it is a new novel virus that has killed 250,000 Americans since the pandemic began in early 2020. Imagine if half as much attention and focus could be put towards cancer research on a yearly basis.

Every November there are many causes around men’s health and cancer fundraising centered around facial hair growth. This year a team of us here at KOAA are growing beards to signal our support for fighting cancer because cancer stinks with the November Beard campaign.

Certainly, this is a challenging year for fundraising especially heading into the holidays and as the pandemic worsens which is why it is more important than ever that we do what we can to fight cancer and the American Cancer Society this year.

We here at KOAA are partnering with our sister station in Denver KMGH to see which station can do the most to not only highlight fabulous facial hair but also to supply all to research and the American cancer society.

On November 30th, we will be having a call-in donation drive, but you don’t need to wait to donate you can do that right now you can support southern Colorado and the KOAA team right now at Colorado Novem-BEARD, just search for KOAA

Long after this current pandemic is gone the fight against cancer will remain so let’s do what we can right now to help put an end to this terrible disease that causes so much pain and suffering, and that includes making sure you have a yearly physical, the appropriate cancer screenings when you should be getting them, no matter what. Cancer Stinks.
