Kimball's Peak Three theater has been welcoming people since 1935, and it's solidified its status as a community staple for those who grew up watching movies there.

Even though the pandemic forced it to close to the public in March, staff are still busy behind the scenes, working to reach folks on a virtual scale while getting ready for when the theater can finally open its doors once again.

Staff is taking advantage of this time to remodel the lobby and wine bar, while also working to bring the movie experience to folks right at home.

On their website (https://kimballspeakthree.com/virtual-screening) people can choose from their unique selection of movies, which include documentaries and indie films. These are movies you won't find on your normal streaming devices. Right now they have about 20 movies to choose from and they add new ones each Friday.

The cost ranges from about $6.50 to $12, and that money goes to make sure Kimball's will stick around.

"I want to say thank you, of course," said Kimball Bayles, owner and president of Kimball's Peak Three Theater. "We've had tremendous amount of money donated and gift cards and the support is huge for us. And you know, we take that seriously. And we want to be responsible. And we're doing the best we can to stay open."

Kimball's has also received PPP loans, small business loans from the city through its "Survive and Thrive" program, as well as grants from the Downtown District and El Paso County.

Bayles is also grateful to the theater's landlord for being gracious and patient with them through this process.

As another creative way to bring in money, Kimball's is renting out its marquee to whoever wants to share an anniversary message or happy birthday message with a loved one - just no political messages. It costs $100 to rent it for the week and it's currently it's booked through September.

If you have any questions about how to stream or get movies on your TV, you can always call Kimball's at (719) 447-1945 or send them a message on the Facebook page and someone will be in touch with you.
