COLORADO SPRINGS — It's time for a huge annual Thanksgiving Day tradition in Colorado Springs, the 22nd annual Turkey Trot 5K and Kids’ Tiny Trot
The eagerly anticipated holiday event of the season is a fundraiser for the YMCA. This fundraiser gives the YMCA the chance to provide scholarships to local families in need, which, in turn, allows them access to the YMCA and its many programs.
People lined up on Wednesday at the Briargate YMCA to get their race gear. Four thousand people take part in the 5K fundraiser
"Our route does have some snow and ice, so we have been in talks with the city. They are coming out today. We hope to have some plowing, some sand, some salt down," said Libby Boomer from the Briargate YMCA.
The 5K starts at 9 a.m. Thanksgiving Day.
