PUEBLO — Pueblo Police stayed busy for much of Thursday night after posting a picture of illegal fireworks officers seized.

Between midnight Thursday and 6 a.m. Friday officers responded to 894 calls, including 154 for fireworks, four fires from fireworks, and three fireworks injury related calls.

Police think recent weather might be a factor.

"The thing is we had drought years so because of the drought some people kind of cooperated with us," said Sgt. Franklyn Ortega. "And with the rules and regulations that applied to fireworks but now that we had all this rain a lot of people are like, it is green now lets kind of break the law."

The Pueblo Police Department says it handed out 17 fireworks citations between July 2 and July 5.
