COLORADO SPRINGS — Fans of the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo will have to wait a little longer before the new hippo and penguin exhibits open.
They were supposed to be ready this fall, but the zoo's president and CEO announced they found cracks in the pools that are causing leaks.
There's an involved process to find those leaks and they will require extensive repairs.
They have enlisted structural engineers, designers, and contractors to figure everything out.
The hippos planned for the exhibit will remain on standby in Missouri for the foreseeable future.
News5 will keep you posted on when the new opening date is announced.
