PUEBLO — If you're going outside this Fourth of July weekend in Pueblo, expect some pesky companions to join you.

While there's been some heavy rain in Pueblo recently, the Department of Health and Environment said the mosquito population hasn't been out of control, yet.

The department did say however that more skeeters are expected this weekend.

The weather has been cooler so far with quite a bit of rain and so we have not been seeing a lot of mosquties in pueblo. However, the temperatures are rising and they are going to continue to get warmer and our evenings will be slightly warmer as well which is a perfect environment for mosquitoes," said Sarah Joseph with the Pueblo Department of Public Health and Environment.

The Health Department said to remember to drain your standing water, avoid dusk and dawn, and wear bus spray that contains "deet."
