FORT CARSON — Fort the eighth time, Fort Carson is hosting a Spartan Race.
The event this weekend is a chance for participants to test their skills on obstacles designed by the 4th Infantry Division and 10th Special Forces Group, as well as traditional spartan obstacles.
This year's event also offered special races with fewer obstacles for those ages 4 to 14.
Participants say the races are a great way to challenge yourself.
"It gets you pumped, gets you ready for what you're about to do so at the end, all that anticipation and drive is accomplished and you're good," said participant Jessica Masias-Smith.
Saturday's competition, The Super, included 25 obstacles over eight miles of rugged terrain. Tomorrow is "The Sprint," which features 20 obstacles over three miles. There will also be two Spartan trail runs Sunday, a 10k and 21k obstacle free run.
