In honor of PrideFest in Colorado Springs a temporary rainbow crosswalk was painted downtown this morning. A previous one that did not have permits from the city was removed last month.

In honor of Pride month, members of the Knob Hill Art District painted the Platte Ave crosswalk back in June. Members had asked for permission from the city but never heard back, so they decided to go ahead with the plan. The artwork was short lived though, City crews painted over the creation hours later.

Now the design is back and this time it's in the heart of Colorado Springs in honor of PrideFest.

PrideFest kicks of tomorrow at 10 a.m. at America the Beautiful Park and continues through Sunday. The parade is Sunday morning. It starts at 11 a.m. at Cimarron and Tejon. It will march north to Colorado Avenue then west to the park.

No tax payer dollars were used to pay for the crosswalk. Funding came from the Downtown Partnership, PrideFest and Creative Consortium.

The temporary crosswalk will be removed Monday, July 15.
