FREMONT COUNTY — Firefighters said Thursday afternoon the YMCA Fire was fully contained.

The fire started on July 8 on BLM Royal Gorge Field Office lands west of Canon City after a lightning strike.

The fire burned 303 acres in a little over a week.

Most personnel assigned to the fire were released on Wednesday.

Local resources are expected to continue monitoring the area over the coming days.
