The department said the bedroom where the fire started belongs to the family member who was unaccounted for.
The Sheriff's Office said they did not believe that the missing family member was inside the house while the fire was happening.
The incident commander said there were some challenges crews faced along with the freezing temperatures.
A News5 crew on the scene said county trucks had to come out and use sand to make a path for fire trucks. It also helps reduce the risk of firefighters slipping as they walk back and forth.
Fire crews also need to keep water running because if they stop the flow, it could freeze over.
The Fountain Fire Department and the Hanover Fire Department helped to put the fire out this morning.
The home is uninhabitable now due to the fire and the Red Cross is helping the family find somewhere to stay.
The cause of the fire is still unknown at this time.
