EL PASO COUNTY — The El Paso County Sheriff's Office has announced Stage I Fire Restrictions for all of unincorporated parts of the county.
Stage I Restrictions mean the following are prohibited:
- Opening burning, excepting fires and campfires within permanently constructed fire gates in developed campgrounds and picnic grounds; charcoal grills and wood burning stoves at private residences in areas cleared of all flammable materials.
- The sale and use of fireworks.
- Outdoor smoking except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or clealred of all flammable materials.
The restrictions are a precaution due to heightened fire danger across the region as dry and warm conditions continue.
