PUEBLO COUNTY — A FEMA-sponsored COVID-19 testing site is now open in Pueblo County at the State Fairgrounds.

To minimize contact, people are given a code that give them directions for testing themselves. This entails swabbing their own nose for 15 seconds, then placing the swab in a tube and sealing it. It's then passed back to the tester on a tray.

On average, the site is capable of analyzing approximately 60 test per hour.

Testing at this site will take place each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., through the end of May.

If you are coming to get tested, you should enter through Gate 4 off of Mesa and Gaylord.

Those encouraged to get tested at this site include healthcare workers, first responders, and members of the critical workforce who are experiencing symptoms.

Those getting tested should bring a picture ID and organization ID, if applicable. Qualified individuals will be tested, regardless of insurance status. There is also no cost for testing and no need to have a doctor's prescription.
