COLORADO SPRINGS — Smoky skies are filling up the mountains and blowing east across the plains this morning.
Air quality is considered generally good today, but if you have breathing problems please try and limit your time outside, especially in the morning.
The smoke should rise and get more dispersed in the afternoon, generally spreading east into the plains through the end of the day.
Most of this smoke is coming from wildfires burning in the desert southwest. The southwest jet stream flow that will bring our heat today is also sweeping the smoke into Colorado.
Smoke should stay most dense today in and around the mountains, but as the day goes on and the air heats, the smoke will rise up and thin out, spreading east into the plains. pic.twitter.com/nEkJEbUGmY— Sam Schreier (@SamASchreier) June 29, 2020
A cold front overnight and a jet stream shift should work together to push the smoke out of Colorado and give us cleaner air.
