Expect lane closures along US 24 the week of July 8

COLORADO SPRINGS — Here is a traffic alert for you. Starting July 8, The Colorado Department of Transportation crews will being paving operations for a resurfacing overlay project along US 24 from 8th Street to west of Manitou Springs.

You can expect eastbound and westbound single lane closures and speeds reduced to 45-miles-per hour in the work zone. The bulk of the resurfacing work will be overnight, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday.

The project will begin west of Manitou Springs, at mile marker 296. One travel lane in each direction will be maintained over night. Work will require lane closures, both eastbound and westbound as crews mill the roadway. Uneven lanes can be expected during milling and paving operations.

In addition to the resurfacing work, motorist should expect to see crews at US 24 at 21 Street setting up barriers and reducing turn lanes in preparation for intersection work.
