EL PASO COUNTY — The El Paso County Sheriff's Office has a man in custody after he barricaded himself at a Super 8 on Peterson Road Wednesday morning for nearly three hours.

Deputies said the situation began this morning around 6:30 a.m. when a woman called authorities on her boyfriend, saying he was self-harming and threatening herself and one other person.

EPCSO said 43-year-old William Hinde was wanted on multiple felony warrants and then barricaded himself inside the hotel room.

Hinde had active warrants for vehicular eluding, reckless endangerment, controlled substance possession, third-degree assault, probation violation and failure to comply on two cases.

The Sheriff's Office, the Crisis Negotiations Unit and SWAT were on scene. During this time, people were asked to stay away from the intersection of Highway 24 and Peterson Road.

Deputies said Hinde surrendered and was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.

On top of the felony warrants he was already facing, Hinde now faces new charges of felony menacing with domestic violence.
