COLORADO SPRINGS — The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is asking the public for help regarding an assault case that happened Tuesday near I-25 and the Martin Luther King bypass.

Deputies said around 5:30 p.m., they found a man who had been assaulted and later taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The sheriff's office is asking anyone who was in the area of I-25 and the MLK bypass, near the trailhead parallel to Fountain Creek, between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. to call their tip line at (719) 530-6666. Anyone with information about the assault is asked to call as well.

EPCSO officials said they do not believe there is a threat to the community and that they believe this is an isolated incident.
