COLORADO SPRINGS — The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for the fall 2019 Citizens Academy.
The academy gives the public an inside look at the the Sheriff's Office, including use of force, illegal marijuana, targeted traffic enforcement, emergency services, which includes our Wildland Fire and Search & Rescue teams, SWAT and civil process. Participants will also tour the El Paso County Jail and learn more about the challenges that the detention center staff faces.
The academy begins Tuesday, Sept. 17 and takes place every Tuesday for the next seven weeks from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. A graduation ceremony will be held on Oct. 29.
It is free to take part, but space is limited to 40 people. Applications must be returned no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, August. 30.
