COLORADO SPRINGS — Colorado Springs Police and other law enforcement agencies across the country helped people safely dispose of prescription medications Saturday.
Drug Take Back Day is a partnership between the DEA and police agencies across the US. The event happens twice a year and the idea is to keep medications from falling into the wrong hands.
CSPD said they collect hundreds of pounds of drugs at each event and people are grateful to them for providing the service.
"Disposing of these powerful narcotics is difficult, so this is a great service to the community, instead of flushing them down the toilet or, God forbid, them ending up on the street," said Officer David Isue.
If you were unable to make it to this event, there are other ways to dispose of prescription medications. Many Walgreens and CVS locations have drop off boxes available to customers.
