COLORADO SPRINGS — Students at Divine Redeemer Catholic School and Parish are working together to get donations to help another school that is struggling.

They have been gathering personal items, backpacks, and clothing for Monroe Elementary in School District 11, where 90 percent of students qualify for free or reduced lunch.

"For our students, it's a difficult time, and so a gift like this allows students to receive a little bit of joy when they come back to school and throughout the school year," said Monroe Principal Carole Frye.

Divine Redeemer routinely helps others in the community through their Extreme Projects.

District 11 students return to class on August 24.
