Quick thinking by Colorado Parks and Wildlife officers over the weekend saved the life of a calf moose.
They posted this video on Twitter of a cow and calf moose that fell into a well that a landowner negligently left unsecured by Rollinsville.
Wildlife officers used catch poles and a tow strap to save them, but sadly the calf moose was the only one to survive, since it was resting on top of its mother, who died in the well.
Parks and Wildlife said the calf moose had already been weened off its mother and is able to fend for itself. The calf was relocated into a drainage that has a great moose habitat.
Officers want to remind landowners to always keep wildlife in mind.
Today's #WildlifeRescue actually is from an operation over the weekend.
