MONARCH MOUNTAIN — Dr. Duane Vandenbusche from Western State is doing a history presentation on Monarch tonight at 7 pm.
He was Western’s cross country coach for 30 years, has 12 national championships, and skis 2-3 days a week!
According to Dan Bender with Monarch Mountain, "Dr. Vandenbusche always makes sure to hike over to Gunbarrel each time he comes and it is a workout to keep up with him!"
The zoom presentation is being put on by the Crested Butte Museum and requires registration. Click here to register.
The presentation will include photos and cover the exciting history of the Monarch Country from Salida to Monarch Pass.
Topics covered include mining, narrow gauge railroads, the Monarch Ski Area as well as the towns of Poncha Springs, Maysville, Arborvilla, Garfield, and Monarch. The presentation on Monarch Country is free.
