Controlled burn activity at Fox Run Regional Park

and last updated

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office advises people will see smoke coming from a controlled burn at Fox Run Regional Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today.

The Wildland Fire Management Team is burning slash piles inside the park.

If you see smoke coming from the park in northern El Paso County do not call 911 for this reason.

During this time of year crews across Colorado take advantage of wet conditions to cut out excess brush and dead trees to mitigate the wildfire danger during warmer seasons.

Periodically this winter we'll see columns of smoke coming from the mountains as the US Forest Service conducts similar activities.
