COLORADO SPRINGS — History made this weekend in the ranks of the Colorado Army National Guard. Deborah Manzanares was promoted to Command Sergeant Major of the 3-157th Field Artillery Battalion, the second highest enlisted rank achievable in the Army. Manzanares is the first woman to reach that rank for an artillery unit anywhere in the country.
The 3-157th is headquartered in Colorado Springs and is augmented by 188th Forward Support Company in Pueblo. The units that make up the battalion are responsible for deploying High-Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) to the battlefield.
