COLORADO SPRINGS — The Colorado Springs Public Works Dept. has new technology to improve our roads.

The Dept. is using what's called a Roadway Collection Vehicle System. It allows technicians to measure pavement health through the use of sensors and lasers.

The information gathered will save time and money.

"With this information, we can then program all of our maintenance activities to extend the life of all of our roads throughout the city...to get as many more years of life as we can out of them," Supervisor Andy Richter said.

The project is made possible by partnerships between the PPRTA and the Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments.
